GIS canoeist Edward Kay clinched his first victory of 2007, winning the British Universities Championship at Teeside.  Second place was taken by David Backhouse, Dutch senior team member and silver medal winner at the 2003 World Championships team event.  Third place was won by Andy Hadfield who made the senior GB team this year.

Edward commented, "I was very pleased to win as there was good competition especially from second and third place."

Edward hopes his good form continues in his next race which is a premier at Grandtully over Easter.
