Modern Pentathlon: (19/02/09) Prentice Selected For GB World Cup Team

19th February 2009

Modern Pentathlete Freyja Prentice (Chapel of Garioch) moved down to Bath in September last year to train alongside the GB squad that is based at there. She opted to delay going to University to study to see how she would progress as a full-time athlete, especially with London 2012 on the horizon.

Freyja's progress has been such that she is currently ranked 4th amongst the GB Senior women, even although she is still a junior. Indeed, she is currently ranked one place higher than Beijing Olympic Silver Medallist, Heather Fell!

Her progress has been rewarded by her first senior selection to the GB World Cup squad that will be competing in Mexico from 26-20 March.

The format for Modern Pentathlon has been changed so that athletes are now required to fence, swim and show jump before heading off on a combined shoot and run where first past the post is declared the winner.
