Modern Pentathlon: (14/07/09) Prentice Selected For GB World Championships Team

15th July 2009

Freyja Prentice (Chapel of Garioch) continued her remarkable rise within GB Modern Pentathlon by being selected for both the Junior and Senior World Championship teams.

The 18 year old who is based in Bath took part in the Junior Worlds that were held in Chinese Taipei from 6-9 July. Freyja recovered from a disappointing equestrian ride to finish 12th overall which was the highest placed of all the GB athletes. Along with Charlotte Granfield and Katy Burke Freyja also helped GB finish fifth in the team event.

Freyja will now turn her attention to preparations for the Senior World Championships which are to be held in London from 13-17 August. The women's team will be led by Beijing silver medallist Heather Fell who also won individual silver at the recent European Championships as well as team gold with Mhairi Spence and Katy Livingston.

Freyja will be hoping to emulate that gold result along with her three team-mates when they take on the cream of the world on home soil.
