Scottish Swimmer Hannah Miley won gold in the 400m individual medley at the European Short Course Championships in Istanbul (10-13 December) last weekend.

sportscotland institute of sport supported athlete Miley, who won bronze in the shorter event on Thursday, won by almost two seconds from Spain's Mireia Belmonte, finishing in four minutes 25.66 seconds.

The 20-year old from Aberdeen said: "I knew it would be a tough race. I did not start too fast in order to keep some power for the end of the race.

"I didn't worry about the other swimmers and I'm very happy because it's my first individual gold medal".
