The Scottish Gas National Age Groups Swimming Championships were held from Thursday 8th April to Sunday 11th April, at Tollcross Leisure Park Centre, Glasgow.
Just one week after causing a splash at the British Championships, GIS swimmer Sara Hamilton won 2 Golds, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze on the first night of the 2010 Scottish National Age Group Championships. Emily Jones, of Garioch, put in a noteable first night performance as well, winning 3 Golds.

Jones, who cited Garioch team mate, Hannah Miley, an inspiration, claimed yet another 3 gold medals on Day 2. Heading into the final as fastest qualifier in the girls 200m breaststroke (14 years), Jones dominated from start to finish extending her lead with every turn. She finished in a time of 2:42.39, almost five seconds ahead of nearest rival.
Earlier in the evening Jones had taken the 200m freestyle title easing into the wall in 2:07.96, over two seconds ahead of silver.
Speaking after the race, Jones said, "I'm really happy with how things are going at this meet. Training for this amount of events in one meet is hard, but it's paying off.
"Having someone at the club like Hannah (Miley) is a real inspiration for me. I look up to her and follow her achievements and that inspires me to set myself new targets. I'm hoping to keep this form throughout the season and keep improving on my times."
There were more medals won on Day 2 of the Scottish Age Group Championships at Tollcross Park Leisure Centre, Glasgow. Hamilton led from the start of the Girls 15yrs 200m Freestyle and didn't look back winning in a time of 2:06.54. Another Gold medal came from fellow South Aberdeenshire swimmer, James Yule in the 15yrs 400m Individual Medley where he made his impact on the Breaststroke and Freestyle legs, storming into the wall in a time of 4:47.71 to take the win in a very close finish.
Yule just missed out on another medal in the Boys 15yrs 100m Butterfly where he was touched out at the wall and finished 4th in 1:00.59. Yule also finished 5th in the 200m Backstroke in 2:19.18.

The following day, gave more successes for the GIS swimmers. Yule won two Silver medals, the first in the Boys 15yrs 100m Breaststroke, just being pipped at the finish line by .57. His second silver medal came in the 200m Individual Medley, where despite leading the field at the last turn, Yule came second by .54.

Hamilton had another Gold medal winning performance in her best event, the 100m Freestyle. She stormed ahead right from the gun to win in a time of 58.13.
Hamilton added another Gold to her collection bringing her individual total to 5 Golds, in winning the 100m Butterfly by 2seconds. Hamilton had a busy evening, competing in the nail-bitting 200m Backstroke final where she was pipped at the finish by .1 of a second to take the Silver in 2:18.99.
Yule brought home another medal of the night, taking Silver in another electric final in the Boys 15yrs 200m Breaststroke final in 2:26.57, whilst Jones made it 9 Golds with wins in the Girls 14yrs 400m IM and the Girls 14yrs 100m butterfly
