Swimming (08/06/10) Season Best for Miley in Monte Carlo

Hannah Miley has performed her season best by swimming to double-medal success at the Mare Nostrum Swimming Series held in Monte Carlo, Monaco on 5-6 June.

She took first place in the 400m medley achieving a time of 4 min 35.06 secs – almost 2 seconds faster than her season best.  She then went on to take second place in the 200m medley, completing in 2 min 13.62 secs. 

Second year Sports and Exercise Science student, Hannah (20), now flies to Barcelona for the second leg of the three-part series, taking place on 9-10 June.  There she will compete against contemporary rivals Katie Hoff and Ariana Kukors.  The series will conclude on 12 & 13 June in the final leg held at Canet en Roussillon, France.           

Miley’s success is welcome news ahead of October’s Commonwealth Games that will be held in Delhi.  Her place at the Games will be decided in the Scottish National Championships which take place in Glasgow at the end of June, where she aims to qualify for 400m and 200m events.    

Before then, Hannah will compete as part of the in the 35-strong Team GB at the European Championships, Budapest, from 9-15 August.  She will join world champions Rebecca Adlington, Gemma Spofforth and Liam Tancock.
