Coaching
The technical development and preparation of all GIS athletes is the responsibility of a number of GIS part-time, National Governing Body and volunteer coaches.
Coaching sessions are often delivered on a one-to-one basis or in a small group situation. This enables the coach to give the athlete specific individual attention if and when required. Each coach is able to make use of relevant coaching technology through the Institute Network or the National Governing Body to enhance the coaching process.
All coaches involved with Area Institute of Sport Athletes are expected to develop an individualised athlete annual plan that maps out the training demands and competitions targets for the year or season. These plans are used as the template for the setting up of the services required to meet the athlete’s needs.
