Performance Lifestyle
The Performance Lifestyle Programme is a national programme that is delivered regionally to promote accessibility to all athletes.
Its role is to provide athletes with an integrated lifestyle to enable them to compete at the highest level. This enables GIS athletes to identify their personal strengths and supports them to integrate career, education, lifestyle and sporting demands so they can be successful now and in their life after sport.
The programme offers a variety of services to the GIS athletes depending on their individual needs. When an athlete is inducted into the GIS they will complete an Individual Athlete Assessment with one of our two Athlete Advisers, Colin Gallacher and Chris Newlands. This is a one-to-one session, which will introduce the athlete to the wide range of support that Performance Lifestyle has to offer.
As well as dealing with areas such as Educational Planning and Career Planning the Performance Lifestyle Advisers run workshops that focus on a variety of topics including Time Management, Study Skills and Dealing With The Media. They meet regularly with the athletes, normally in their training environment, to pick up on any issues that they might have or simply to re-assure them that they are being supported.
