The Canoe Slalom programme aims to provide the best possible support to enable athletes to reach their full potential in the sport. Some athletes choose to base themselves at Holme Pierpont International Water Sports Centre in Nottingham in order to take advantage of the training facilities on offer. In such cases the GIS will continue to provide full support to the athlete as is logistically possible.
Each athlete has an individualised annual plan designed specifically to meet their training and competition needs. This includes working on sport specific skills and strength and conditioning.
The athletes compete in both domestic and international events and, if selected, at European and World Championships at their respective age-group levels.
